Georgian Wine in Classic Poolside Cocktails

 

Splashing season is here, and what can be better for a poolside party than a simple, fun mixed drink to share with friends?

The good news is that you don’t always need expensive bottles and a professional bar kit to make a great cocktail. We’ve got you some classic, easy-to-make recipes with a Georgian twist, having picked several wallet-friendly bottles (all under £15) and turned them into refreshing mixed drinks. Try them out!

1. Tbilisi Bellini

Wine: Marani Sparkling Brut

Style: Classic peach Bellini with a Georgian sparkle

Ingredients:

100 ml Marani Brut
50 ml white peach nectar or purée
Dash of lemon juice

What to do:
Pour the purée into a chilled flute, add a dash of lemon juice, top with Brut, and stir gently.

2. Rose Royale

Wine: Marani Sparkling Medium-Sweet Rosé 

Style: A sweeter, fruitier Kir Royale

Ingredients:

100 ml sparkling rosé
25 ml Chambord or raspberry liqueur
Frozen raspberries

What to do:
Pour the liqueur into a coupe, top with chilled sparkling rosé from Marani, and drop in some frozen raspberries.


3. Red Cherry Highball

Wine: Gorgeous Georgia Red – Waitrose
Style: Light, fizzy, fruit-forward red spritz

Ingredients:

100 ml chilled red wine
50 ml cherry juice
Dash of bitters
Soda water & ice
Orange wedge for garnish

What to do:
Stir wine, juice, and bitters in a tall glass. Add ice and top with soda. Garnish with orange.

4. Rkatsiteli Kir

Wine: Wine Man Rkatsiteli

Style: Crisp and elegant with a cassis kick

Ingredients:

100 ml chilled white Rkatsiteli
15 ml crème de cassis or peach liqueur

What to do:
Add liqueur to a wine glass, top with Rkatsiteli. Serve cold, with or without ice.

5. Kindzmarauli Frosé

Wine: Dugladze Kindzmarauli Red Semi-Sweet 

Style: A slushy cocktail with sweet cherry and floral notes

Ingredients:

150 ml Dugladze wine
1 handful frozen strawberries
Ice
Splash of lime juice

What to do:
Blend all ingredients until smooth. Serve in a large glass with a straw.

6. Kindzmarauli Sangria

Wine: Wine Man Kindzmarauli

Style: Juicy, soft sangria with Saperavi character

Ingredients:

1 bottle Kindzmarauli
1 sliced orange
1 sliced apple
1 lemon, juiced
100 ml orange juice or lemonade
Optional: splash of brandy
Ice and soda to top

What to do:
Mix wine, fruit, and juice in a jug. Chill for 2–3 hours. Serve over ice, topped with soda.
