Mukuzani

Mukuzani PDO lies in Inner Kakheti’s Gurjaani municipality. The vineyards stretch along right-hand side of the Alazani river at an altitude of 350-750meters above sea level. The 246-hectare micro-zone covers gentle slopes as well as flat land. It’s a moderately humid region with hot summers and mildly cold winters.

The wines are made with the red Saperavi grape. Wine has been produced under the PDO since 1893. Traditionally, it is aged in oak barrels, although some producers today take a lighter touch with oak. Mukuzani is a full-bodied and age-worthy wine. It is dark, pomegranate-red with notes of ripe berries, bay leaves and a gentle hint of oak.
