Georgia returns to London Wine Fair

Fifteen producers from Georgia will be exhibiting on the national pavilion stand at this year’s London Wine Fair.
As part of an expanded programme of activities for the UK market, 15 producers will be attending the Fair. Some of them are already active in the UK market and others are seeking representation.
Following a year in which exports to the UK rise by 30%, the National Wine Agency of Georgia is investing heavily in supporting its producers in the UK market. A programme of activities is already underway with Swirl Wine Group, under the direction of Sarah Abbott MW with press and events being handled by Madeleine Waters of co.co PR, and the London Wine Fair is one of the major activities to support the development of the UK market.
The Wines of Georgia stand at the Fair will include a masterclass area with daily sessions presented by Sarah Abbott MW, each focusing on different areas of Georgian wines including qvevri wines, indigenous grape varieties and contemporary Georgian winemaking.

Monday 20 May – Qvevri wines: exploring the ancient technology of the qvevri with a tasting of 5 qvevri-made wines

Tuesday 21 May – Saperavi: Georgia’s native hero – from bright, red-cherry and lively to sumptuous, spicy, and oak-aged.

Wednesday 22 May – Contemporary Georgia: a look at the up and coming producers of Georgia’s vibrant artisanal wine scene
