New Wines of Georgia Campaign for 2020
The National Wine Agency of Georgia has launched a 2020 campaign to support the promotion of Georgian wines in the UK market.
This is the third year of the UK Wines of Georgia campaign. Run by Master of Wine Sarah Abbott and her company Swirl Wine Group, the campaign will support sales of Georgian wine already in the UK market and help producers not yet exporting to enter the UK.
2019 was a tipping point for Georgian wine sales in the UK: year on year exports increased by 60%, and major importers (including Hallgarten Novum, Berkmann and Amathus) added Georgian wine producers to their portfolio for the first time. And in February 2020, Boutinot launched a range of five wines from Teliani Valley, from the Kakheti region of Georgia.
Boutinot’s Product Manager Matthew Jones explains: “Since my eyes were opened at a Wines of Georgia event in Manchester last year, I knew I had to get some Georgian wines into the portfolio. We found Teliani Valley to be passionate, dynamic and collaborative, but most importantly of course, they make great wines. We will be focusing on the on-trade and independent retailers. We were genuinely excited to be launching five Teliani wines at our February portfolio tastings, they’re already creating a buzz with the sales teams and I’m sure they’ll be a hit with our customers!”
