The National Wine Agency of Georgia has announced an expanded promotional campaign for the UK in 2019, noting that the UK is a globally influential and strategically important market, and that exports of Georgian wine to the UK grew by 30% last year.
Throughout 2019, Georgian wines will be supported in the UK with a program that includes:
- Press office
- National pavilion at the London Wine Fair,
- Series of trade tastings through the UK
- Georgian wine festival (watch this space!)
- Press and trade trips to Georgia
- Ongoing digital content and promotion via website (georgianwine.uk), and social media (@GeorgianWineUK)
The program will be led by Sarah Abbott MW, of Swirl and Market, with Press Office run by Madeleine Waters of CoCo PR. The two have worked with Georgian wine since 2017, and have extensive experience of bringing
The decision to expand the budget for UK promotion follows increased importation and penetration of a wide range of Georgian wine in 2018. Both specialist and general importers are now working with Georgian wine, of both classic and qvevri styles.
Over 20 producers will be participating in a new-look Pavilion at the London Wine Fair in May 2019, which will also feature focus tastings led by Georgian Wine specialists.
