We rounded off a successful 2021 with an consumer wine tasting featuring specialist Georgian wine importers.
The tasting held on the 8th December was the last event in a year during which UK imports of Georgian wine continued to grow strongly.
The Georgian National Wine Agency has confirmed that the promotional campaign for the UK will continue into 2022, with an increased budget allocated to the UK market.
There are now more than 60 Georgian wine brands available in the UK, and the availability of Georgian wine has expanded, with specialist Georgian importers, large National agencies, fine wine merchants and regional wholesalers among the businesses offering Georgian wine.
The 2022 Georgian Wine Campaign includes ongoing trade liaison and support, two press trips to Georgia, trade tastings in London and Manchester, expanded content and social media output, and collaborations with consumer tastings and wine educators.
Speaking after the December tasting, head of the Georgian Wine UK CAMPAIGN, Sarah Abbott MW said,
“We are grateful to those who came and explored the wines with enthusiasm and curiosity. Thanks to everyone for complying with all the Covid precautions with such consideration and good grace. We didn’t do our normal buffet, but Walnut & Spice came up with individual tasting boxes of traditional Georgian food and we got to convert the masses to the wonder that is Svaneti salt.
And finally, pianist Luka Okros delighted us with some Chopin and Rachmaninov on the grand.”
